Join The Atlanta Opera Company Players and Studio Artists for three live Big Tent concerts this spring. Michael Mayes and Megan Marino are among those featured in Crossroads: The Sequel; The Company Players and friends return for Imagine Broadway, and the series concludes with a Concert for Unity, featuring Black Opera Stars. Lead by Company Player Morris Robinson, the concert will be presented in collaboration with the City of South Fulton Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs and Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company, whose mission is to celebrate the rich traditions of Black storytelling while giving voice to bold artists from all cultures.

Michael Mayes and Megan Marino go back to their vernacular roots for the second installment of this hit multi-genre concert, ranging from bluegrass to blues. Gabrielle Beteag, Joshua Conyers, and Theo Hoffman will join them under the tent.

Featuring Black opera stars led by Company Player Morris Robinson, whose bass is “so deep and assured it’s as if a vibration goes through the audience every time he opens his mouth” (Globe and Mail, Canada), this will pay tribute to Atlanta’s diversity through a range of spirituals, gospel, rock and opera, in collaboration with the city’s True Colors Theatre Company, which celebrates the rich traditions of Black storytelling while giving voice to new artists from all cultures.

True Colors Theatre Company and The Atlanta Opera are proud to present a timely conversation on access to professional opportunities for Black opera singers. In this time of cultural awareness and cultural upheaval, there is a call for greater representation and visibility on our stages, including on the grand opera stages of our country. Emerging singers of color continue to face unique challenges to accessing the pipeline that leads to a professional career. As we prepare to present our Concert for Unity on May 8 and 9, join us for a panel of distinguished local artists and educators as they discuss their personal experiences and ways to lift every voice in our communities.

What to Expect
Your safety is our top priority
This outdoor experience was designed in consultation with leading experts in the fields of epidemiology, public health, workplace/industrial hygiene, and infectious diseases.
The Atlanta Opera will continue to monitor government policy changes, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, government mandates, and public health notices and make changes as necessary or appropriate to ensure the safety of patrons, artists, and staff.
Social Distancing
Tickets are sold as “pods” that can accommodate either two or four people in one party. All pods will be safely distanced from each other under the Big Tent.
Stanchions, signage, and barriers will be used throughout the venue to ensure social distancing is maintained for all audience members.
Shortened Performances
In order to limit exposure, all performances are only 65 minutes in length.

Health Screenings
Patrons will be required to take a Health Screening Questionnaire either before arriving or on-site. Temperature checks will also be conducted prior to entry.
Reduced Contact
Ticket scanning, temperature checks, and safety screenings will be contactless and staff will be equipped with masks, face shields, and gloves to keep you safe.
Enhanced Cleaning
Hand washing and sanitizing stations will be dispersed throughout the outdoor venue and personal hand sanitizers will be available at each pod. Seats, tables, bathrooms, and every check-in station will be fully sanitized prior to and following each performance.

Location
The Big Tent at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre
All performances will be presented in a large, ventilated, open-sided tent. The tent is located in the parking lot of Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
